Today the ladies of the Stitch ‘n’ Bitch celebrated the birthday of one of our members. Welmoed is a fabulously creative lady who makes children’s clothing and does some really lovely embroidery. To commemorate the occasion I made up a batch of gluten free chocolate cupcakes with a Fleur de sel (French sea salt) Swiss meringue buttercream frosting.
I used the recipe I’d created the other week
The cake mix made up 2 dozen cupcakes. And the frosting mix made enough buttercream to cover a dozen cupcakes (the rest of the unfrosted cakes have been put in the freezer for a later date).
It was a lovely afternoon with lots of the other ladies bringing along baked goods or delicious things for us to drink. We collected together and gave Welmoed a gift certificate for Spoonflower, a fabulous website where you can have your own fabric printed. I can’t wait to see the gorgeous things she creates! It was a splendid way to spend an afternoon; surrounded by many of my favourite Lausannois ladies.
I’m now going to make up a pizza for dinner, to open a good bottle of red wine and to start packing for our holiday tomorrow!
